The highest form of literary subtlety, in a corrupt social order, is to tell the plain truth-- Edward Abbey
Carl Jung, who pioneered our understanding of the subconscious, wrote that when humans are unaware of their "inner contradictions, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposite halves." We externalize the side of us that we do not want to own. We look for scapegoats. Instead of getting upset about the possibility that humanity's present course could end civilization as we know it, we get angry with those who name the problems.—Julene Bair
"The basis for optimism is sheer terror." – Oscar Wilde
Much madness is divinest sense
To a discerning eye;
Much sense the starkest madness. . .
Assent, and you are sane;
Demur, you're straightway dangerous,
And handled with a chain.
- Emily Dickenson

Since we started down the path of homeownershiip Tommy and I have often lamented the fact that buying a home is now such a complex real estate action. It's not about buying homes for families anymore, it's about building equilty. Nobody buys a house without thinking of resale value. What arrogance, n'est pas? - that we have the luxury of turning HOMES into investments. How sad that the value of these structures has become so void of the warmth and tenderness I stil feel for the house I grew up in. It's something I truly love about visiting Ohio, is spending time at that old farmhouse, woth it's creaking floors and spooky corners.
